Like any voracious reader, I have a to-read list a mile long. While my husband might raise an eyebrow at me sliding cozily up to him, snaking a seductive arm around his back and coyly murmuring, “Honey? I think we need…another bookcase,” I can’t help but add more and more to my anticipated reading list! It’ll be a sad day when I have no more books I want to read, or a day where I won’t care about books because The Real Apocalypse has hit Earth and I’m busy trying to navigate a dystopian hellscape, which I suppose would still be a sad day for other reasons, but I digress. Here are my top anticipated releases for the first quarter of 2022!
Reminders of Him – Colleen Hoover
Release Date: 18 January 2022
Genre: Romance
I’m not the biggest fan of romance stories, but c’mon, it’s Colleen Hoover! She tends to write romance without all the heaving bosoms and thicc bottoms (is that how kids say it these days?). I waited far too long to read Regretting You , so I’m jumping on this one as soon as I can.
Funny Farm: My Unexpected Life with 600 Rescue Animals – Laurie Zaleski
Release Date: 22 February 2022
Genre: Memoir
Laurie Zaleski runs a real-life farm full of rescue animals, and this is her memoir detailing how she got to this point. As someone else who loves rescue animals of all kinds and has a vague, distant dream of one day running a little home cat shelter, I’m looking forward to someone else’s thought processess-with the promise of some humor-on the entire endeavor.
The Kaiju Preservation Society – John Scalzi
Release Date: 15 March 2022
Genre: Science Fiction
What if dinosaurs survived in an alternate universe and now the line between dimensions is blurred, leaving a food delivery driver as the hero of a story trying to keep modern day humans from getting mixed up with the majestic beasts of the past? John Scalzi’s newest release promises a fun sci-fi adventure. Also, dinosaurs.
Bonus: The return of Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staple’s beloved comic Saga! While I won’t be reviewing individual issues, waiting instead for the compiled trade paperback versions, I WILL be reading the single issues as they come out–but no worries, no spoilers here or on my social media!
What other books and graphic novels are you looking forward to in the first three months of 2022?
